camera’s eye & mind’s eye

Having more in common than you would think, photography and illustration are created in a similar manner. It’s someone’s vision, whether it be surreal or real. They overlap each other’s boundaries. The major difference, in my opinion, is that unaltered photography is truth, visually, while illustration is visual truth. Truth created by an illustrator is actually what he sees in his mind, the ultimate SD card. (To thine own self, be true.) While talented photographers have a certain style and look, formed by many years behind the camera, illustrators, no matter what age, dig deep into life experience stored in that musty file cabinet called the brain. Both use the hand as the tool or choice, whether it’s click the shutter or click the mouse or flick the brush.
